Digital Forensics Specialist
Organizations fall victim to cyberattacks every day. These can be complex puzzles. The ability to accurately analyze digital traces plays a crucial role in understanding and resolving these incidents. As a Digital Forensics Specialist, you will uncover important details, determine the full scope of an attack, and provide insights that not only assist with recovery but also help prevent future threats.
We are looking for a digital forensics expert based in The Netherlands.
In this role, you will collect and analyze digital evidence, trace system activity, identify the source of attacks, and assess the impact of security breaches. You will work closely with incident response and crisis management colleagues to help mitigate further damage. Effective communication is essential, and you will translate complex technical findings into clear, understandable insights for non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment across all parties.
What you'll do:
- You conduct digital forensic investigations following cybersecurity incidents, from securing evidence to analyzing systems and log files.
- You help organizations understand what occurred during an attack, how attackers gained access, and the extent of the damage.
- You work on post-incident analyses and provide actionable reports for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- You contribute to preventive measures based on your findings: how to prevent similar incidents and help protect other organizations.
- You advise clients on how to improve their forensics readiness, both before and after incidents.
- You assist in developing forensic procedures, tools, and playbooks, and contribute to improving our service offerings.
- You stay current with developments in the field, including new attack methods, tools, and best practices, and apply them in your work.
- You collaborate closely with a team of experienced incident responders, crisis management consultants, and IT/OT security experts.
You recognize yourself in the following:
- You have extensive knowledge of digital forensic investigations gained through internships, projects, or (early) work experience in digital forensics, security monitoring and/or incident response.
- You have experience with software like FTK, CAINE, EZ Tools, and Volatility 3.0, as well as operating systems like Windows and Linux.
- You possess in-depth knowledge of filesystems and file formats. Familiarity with malware is a plus.
- You enjoy contributing to service development and improving technical infrastructure and tools for better investigation results and task automation.
- You are motivated to earn relevant certifications, such as GCFA, GCIA, GCIH, or Private Investigator Licence. Having these certifications is advantageous.
- You can communicate clearly in English, both orally and in writing.
- You understand that incidents are unpredictable and are willing to assist outside regular working hours to support clients when necessary.
